Windows 10 recovery image enables you to format the hard drive and install a clean copy of Windows 10 on your computer. The installation process will take some time and your computer may restart several times.Windows Setup automatically creates a partition, formats it, and then begins installing Windows.If the Primary Partition shows 0 GB free, select the Unallocated Space and click Next. In the Where do you want to install Windows window, select the largest internal disk as the Primary Partition, and then click Next.In the window Which type of installation do you want? Click Custom (advanced).

Use the cat partitions command to find out the /dev/ assignment for the inserted USB flash drive./dev/sdX is the drive assigned by Linux computer to the USB flash drive, it could /dev/sdb, /dev/sdc etc.my_usb_image.iso or the my_usb_image.img file is the unzipped recovery image file downloaded and provided as input file to dd tool.login: $ dd if=my_usb_image.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M.On Linux, this can be done like the example shown below: The OS recovery image is meant to be flashed to a raw device (I.e., no partitions).Follow the instructions to install the operating system using the Dell OS recovery media.Once the recovery image is copied to the USB flash drive, safely remove the USB flash drive from the computer.Click Make Startup Disk to install the recovery image to the USB flash drive.In the tool, select the USB device that is plugged in.Insert the USB flash drive in your Linux-based computer where the recovery image is downloaded.Verify that the USB flash drive used for imaging is at least 16GB in capacity.Creating a bootable USB recovery media formats the USB flash drive and all the data on the USB flash drive will be lost permanently.
